Wow, you guys are really getting to know me now!!! I did want to let you know that the Wedding Details Wednesday and Ten Random Things Tuesday may slow down a bit for the summer. I am headed to Bolivia for three weeks in June and then wedding season gets busy! SO I just wanted to give you fair warning so you didn’t think that I was slacking off without warning! I thought this week I could share 10 of my jobs that brought me to where I am.
1. Avery’s farm market – I got serious biceps and sticky arms from working here the summer I turned 16. It was actually NASTY, being covered in ice cream and just getting a long enough break to change and wash your arms before getting back out there :)
2. Lewiscraft – ok I know it may sound cheesy but I LOVED this job! The ladies I worked with were all older so there was no silly drama, it was in the mall so I got to shop a bit on my breaks and I got to get all of my Christmas ornaments for my tree for pennies (bought them over two years after Christmas) yes I was buying my own Christmas tree ornaments when I was 17!!!
3. Then I moved to Banff and worked at the Banff Springs Hotel. Now there were really a few spots here but I also really liked this Job, sometimes parts of me would love to go back to living and working out there! I worked mainly in Rundle Lounge (which had a beautiful BEAUTIFUL view of the bow valley) I started as a host and in my first week had to turn away Colin Mockery and Ryan Styles. I also helped out in another lounge, the wine bar, and on occasion did some banquets! Wow I love remembering working out there!
4. When I got to Banff my job wasn’t ready to start so I got a job part time (and kept it for a while even after my job started) at the Banff Camera Shop. Working here helped me buy a couple new lenses and I started taking (even more) photographs.
5. When I moved home my parents had bought a restaurant downtown so I worked there to help them out for a bit, I ended up working waaaaayyyyy too much and then
6. Started working at Montana’s…it was the year after it opened and it was INSANELY busy
7. Then I started working at Storage Inn – A self storage facility in Halifax – as the assistant manager. It was a great job, and the only climate controlled storage facility in Halifax at the time however, I needed more human interaction. So….
8. I bought a tanning salon and went back to waitressing part time (at Kokomo’s in Bayers Lake)
9. Then I started as the Sales Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott Halifax Downtown (which is why I started this post in the first place…I had a wedding there on Saturday and one of the shots of the hotel is above)
10. Alright and then before I took the plunge to full time into This is Photography I was working I think it was 7 jobs at one time, and then I whittled away at them one by one, until This is Photography was my full time gig. Of course I had been taking photographs, and was working as an associate with Alex MacAulay through the last couple, it took a while to grow the business but well worth all of the long hours and crazy schedules! Its been a long road but I am so glad that I am here!!!
Oh and somewhere in there I was a Real Estate Agent for 6 months as well :)
So that’s my work story morning glory!!!
