Blossom Bliss {Part One} – Halifax Wedding Photography

June 9, 2014

Well I LOVE apple blossoms, cherry blossoms. beautiful green new life. It’s beautiful! And for years I have been wanting to  do a shoot during apple blossom peak season, but with new baby, and then new baby…. it kind of got pushed aside. But this January I said that THIS was going to be the year! So I started sketching out my vision and then reaching out to the vendors that would come together and make this shoot happen. First of all the shoot would not have been possible without the amazing team at Elegant Productions. Katelyn – You’re my kindred in the wedding planning world! She loves lists, and details, and getting things done. I could hug her just thinking about it! Above all of that she has a calming ability that would be amazing to any bride. She just takes care of it! They helped bring together so much of this shoot! So SO thankful that they were grabbed hold of my vision and worked with me on it! AMAZING. It was one of the biggest projects we have taken on but so rewarding!

We also had so many amazing vendors/venues that you’ll be hearing about! I couldn’t wait to post something!!!

Lowden House was our main location with most of our outdoor and apple blossom shots being able to  take place  thanks to Hennigar’s Farm. I’ve always loved it there, getting ice cream, walking through the trail, seeing the animals….But a couple of years ago I shot a Hennigar’s wedding and it was incredible. I got to know the family and it was a pleasure getting to see them again and photograph at their beautiful property (and of course get ice cream!!!) If you haven’t been before I definitely recommend it!

We wanted to also feature other local artists and show off what Nova Scotia has to offer! So much talent here!

The table was hand crafted and designed by Mark Owen of East Coast Live Edge Designs. Let me tell you that once the kids are done completely ruining our furniture I will be wanting one of his tables (ok I am wanting one now…but I wouldn’t be able to watch my kids spill berries/and draw with crayons/paint on it without being sick!) Truly art! We used the table to create our reception table/head table looks.

Props Floral did the floral (with a little added magic from Katelyn & the beautiful apple blossoms) I love the soft rounded bouquet and all the details they put into their work.

Caitlyn Rose hand crafted a pink druzy ring with both silver & gold and a complimenting silver and gold chain. She also created beautiful quartz hanging earrings. The intricacy was amazing and the beauty of the pieces speak for themselves with such beautiful details – the hearts in the back of the ring too cute!! If the druzy ring was my size it would be in my personal collection right now! I hope to visit her shop in Cape Breton this summer and find something for me!!!

Duly Noted created our invitation and menu. Something Borrowed Vintage Rentals lent us some furniture, and depression glassware that really rounded out the look! East of Ordinary created our super cute pink bow ties (and they can make children and adult bow ties in almost any fabric and they often re-purpose vintage patterns they find, love it! Karma Bridal provided both dresses, the hair accessories, the jewels on the pink shoes and the belt on the evening dress. Naphtali Carleton did our makeup for the daytime look and the nails and hair were done by True Beauty Spa & Wellness Centre (by the same beautiful Jessica who did my hair for my wedding nearly 8 years ago). I also had some fun doing some shoots DIY projects! The plates, apples and pink shoes were all fun projects by me. The pink sash my mother in law made for us and I know that there are many more shout outs and details to come with the next posts!

So much more to come but I hope you enjoy this post on a beautiful sunny Monday!
